Susana Soares’s design work is as fascinating as the science behind it:
Scientific research has demonstrated that bees have an extraordinarily acute sense of smell and can be trained to perform health checks by detecting a specific odour in peoples’ breath.
The project consists in a series of alternative diagnostic tools that use bees to diagnose accurately at an early stage of a vast variety of diseases.
Could this revolutionise medicine as we know it?
Oh gosh, I don’t know about this. I just feel like someone’s going to end up with a bee in her windpipe.
This week, our mix comes from the Swedish duo Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäder, collectively known as Korallreven. The pair create a spellbinding blend of ethereal electro pop with undertones of shoegaze and won a lot of fans in 2011 with their honestly titled debut LP “An Album by Korallreven” and their fantastic Edgar-Allan-Poe-inspired mixtape “A Dream Within A Dream”.
For their mix, the pair have gone for a where-were-you-in-92 rave vibe, as a signal of their possible future direction. Expect acid synths, sharp rave breaks, and a little bit of Baby D’s 1992 UK #1 smash, Let Me Be Your Fantasy.
